Foggy morning in the Hamptons

Memorial Day Weekend was spent out in the Hamptons and every morning it was very foggy and humid.
I love walking up this small boardwalk to the beach, you can hear the ocean and the trees smell amazing.

It was so foggy you couldn't even see the sea.

The ocean looked eerie, yet beautiful.

I wish the beach was always this nice and quiet.

Sunshine is here!

After weeks and weeks of rain the sun is shining again and it got really hot over night.
I'm prepared with a new leopard print maxi dress and a big beach hat to protect me from the sun. Along with SPF 85. I am very pale and I would like to keep it that way since I love my porcelain complexion.
Hat: la Senza in London
My plants are getting bigger too! Can't wait for them to bloom..

Trip to the vineyards!

Long Island has over 30 vineyards, most of them in the north fork of the island.
I had planned a trip with a bunch of friends to go visit 3 of them. Macari, Martha Clara and Baiting Hollow
We started at Macari where they had a 13th anniversary sale on. We did a wine tasting of some lovely reds and bought a few bottles.
The weather luckily got sunny and warm. A perfect day to walk around the vineyards.
Wine here is supposedly the best out of all the vineyards so this is a good place to stock up.
After some wine tasting we bought a bottle of Malbec and enjoyed it with some picnic food our friend Kim had brought for us. They have tons of picnic tables on a patio overlooking the vineyards.

Then off to the next one!
Martha Clara. They had a live band playing cover songs, food, outside seating, petting zoo with farm animals etc. This was everybodys favorite vineyard. A fun place!

It was so nice being able to sit outside and enjoy some very good sangria..

Our last stop was Baiting Hollow. A vineyard with a horse rescue stable.

The profits from the wines they sell go to the rescue horses..

They also had a live band and it was a big party at this place.

All the vineyards have gift shops with sweets and wine paraphernalia etc.
.................What a fun day!

Goats like cash

The sign said, feed the goats a dollar.
So I did!
The goat didn't really eat it, I still have the dollar. We gave him some bread sticks instead :)

Lucy I'm home!

I love this restaurant Lucy's in Babylon so we had our girls night there tonight.
Everything on the menu is organic or all natural and they keep changing the menu according to what is in season at the time.
We shared some delicious appetizers including this Morrell Mushroom and English Pea Risotto With a hint of black truffle
Tuna Tartar With avocado, lime, and shallot. This was SUPERB.
I of course had the salmon for an Entree
Scottish Salmon Over peas, asparagus, chanterelle mushrooms, ramps, purple potatoes, and Dijon vinaigrette
This restaurant is so tiny, but it is so cozy and nice and quiet
Our waiter Billy was very friendly and attentive. Wish I had a picture of him, because he was very cute :)

I love Lucy's

Mayfair Hotel, Coconut Grove, Miami

On my way from London to NY I stopped in Miami for a night.

My first time in Miami a year ago I stayed in Miami Beach and I wasn't too impressed with the area. Only because it's really for young single people who want to bar hop and party on the beach.. Not really my scene so I decided to stay in Coconut Grove, an area with a bunch of cute shops, restaurants and a marina for yachts.

The hotel itself was nice and clean. The only bad thing was that it was quite noisy at night, the door and the windows were definitely not soundproof.
There were lots of courtyards like this around the hotel
The rooftop bar was nice. It also had a pool and cabanas. Sorry I didn't take a photo!
Of course it rained most of the time I was there so I didn't get to walk around that much, but I definitely liked the area. Good for chilling out and not as tacky as Miami Beach.

Wedding season

Thankfully this year isn't as crazy on the wedding front as last year (we were invited to over 10 weddings in 2010). Only two weddings to go to in 2011. One in the spring and one in the fall.
I stopped in Miami on my way home from Europe and I had some time to go shopping and found this dress from Laundry by Shelli Segal.
It's perhaps a little too girly to my taste, but the color reminds me of blooming cherry trees and I've been dreaming about spring for months now so I think I will be wearing this to the wedding tomorrow.

Back in the New York Groove

Since spring is the time to create new things, I decided to start a new blog.
It's probably going to consist of random ramblings and photos of my every day life.. So nothing new really :D
Enjoy!

I planted these flowers early April before I left and I'm glad to find them alive and well
